STEPS FOR MAKING SPARE DRY FILTERS
The making of a dry filter involves four simple steps.
Step 1. Cut wood.
Cut a piece of wood with a minimum thickness of around 8mm.
Step 2. Soaking in hot water (60°C) for 1 hour.
Sapwood has a self-blocking function.
To mitigate this self-blocking, we soak the wood for 1 hour at 60°C.
Step 3. Soaking in alcohol overnight.
Before drying, to improve shelf-life, we soak the cut filters in food-grade alcohol (isopropanol, ethanol, etc.).
This preserves the structural integrity of membranes and provides a shelf-life of at least two years.
Step 4. Drying.
Filters can be dried in an oven at 40°C, or just be air-dried .
Before packaging, the sapwood filters shouls be completely dry.
To enhance the shelf-life and keep the filters in a dry state, silica sachets can be used.
